REPURPOSE
It is not an organization or a person, but a proactive movement
to promote and protect the breed.

For 10 years, The American Saddlebred Legacy Foundation (“ASLF”) has worked tirelessly and evolved into an organization that is a proactive resource for the owners, breeders, and trainers of the American Saddlebred horse to repurpose them as an alternative to auction and costly rescue and rehab later. Since we began, we have repurposed over 900 horses. These horses have gone on to be first-time show horses for people, trail horses, pleasure horses, endurance horses, sport horses…these horses are the lower to middle market that we are currently missing. Repurpose is the answer for breeders, trainers, and owners who need more support, and for our horses, the reason we are all here.

GOALS of REPURPOSE MINDSET:

1. Compliment the performance horses, not compete. We know that performance barns, breeders, owners, and trainers don’t have time to do all the things. We can help.

2. Be a proactive resource for owners, breeders, and trainers of the Saddlebred to assist in finding alternative placement when the horse can’t do its job, no matter what that job is. (From performance showing to pulling a buggy) We are one step ahead of welfare.

3. Continue to expand on measurable growth for the breed across the country, and further encourage and support the low to middle market for Saddlebreds. We have a demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and professionally with other animal welfare groups and professionals.
